Many of you are familiar with Mwamba, as St. Matthew’s has partnered with them for many years to provide secondary school scholarships to children in Kenya. The Bishop of the Diocese of Kitale, Rt. Rev. Dr. Emmanuel Chemengich and his wife, Dorcas, founders of the organization, will be worshiping with us on September 29th at the 9:00 & 10:30 a.m. services. They will provide updates on the foundation’s work and be available for questions.

Blood Drive
St. Matthew’s will host an American Red Cross Blood Drive on May 22, 2023 from 2:00 – 7:00 p.m. in the Parish Hall.
Please go here: https://tinyurl.com/SMEC-BloodDrive to register online.

The Horsham Interfaith Coalition (HIC) has a Clothes Bank located at Riverside Church, serving our local community. HIC is holding their first Lenten Clothes Drive to stock the Clothes Bank with infant and children’s clothing (boys and girls 6 months through 12 years old), specifically pants, tops, sweatpants, parkas/hoodies, pajamas, coats, and NEW underwear and socks. A collection box will be placed outside the kitchen/parish hall doors.
Mattie Dixon was blessed by generous food donations during the holiday season. Therefore, they are still requesting non-food items. Specifically, they need: laundry detergent, dish detergent, all forms of toiletries (soap, shampoo, toothpaste, deodorant, etc.), Poise pads, toilet paper, tissues, and plastic cups and utensils. Offerings can be placed in the bins located outside the kitchen or narthex doors.
Ministry Opportunities
We have been called by Father Rodney to consider how we might use our time and talents to serve God at St. Matthew’s. There are many ministry opportunities that you might consider. We especially need help in the following areas: Outreach, Inreach, Welcome (Newcomers), Counters, Acolytes, Ushers, and Fellowship. If you would like more information about these ministries, please contact Carolyn Bedics at parishmanager@saintmattsec.org, or 215-646-4092.
Every year, St. Matthew’s is especially generous in contributing to the Mattie Dixon Community Cupboard food drive for Thanksgiving meals for those in need. You may place food contributions in the bins under the coat rack outside the kitchen, or in the bins located outside the church doors of the lower parking lot. Below is the wish list to provide meals for those less fortunate. Please drop off food by Sunday, November 13th so food may be delivered to the pantry.
